Have you ever wondered who owns the largest piece of land in Kenya and how many acres is the land? Find out these top owners.
Kuki Gallman an Italian baroness owns the largest land, the Ol Nyiro ranch in Laikipia. It is 100,000 acres in size. She transformed this land to a reserve for wildlife making it a tourist attraction site.
The second largest land is Ol-Pejeta ranch that is 92,000 acres. It was owned by lord Dalamere and Marcus Wickham in the early 20th century but later purchased by Uk-based organisation (FFI).
Ol Jogi ranch comes at the third position with 67,000 acres. It was owned by French art dealer Daniel Wildenstein who was faced with troubles by the law concerning tax fraud. It is currently owned by Alec wildenstein.
Loisaba conservancy comes at the fourth position with a total of 61,000 acres. It is owned by one Italian by the name Count Ancelotto who was at first discouraged by his friends not to buy the land.
At the fifth position we have the Segera ranch, 50,000 acres in size owned by Jochen Zeitz of Germany. He was the Puma's chairman and CEO for 18 years.
Ole Malo ranch comes next with a total of 50,000 acres. It is owned by Colin Fracombe who was the manager of Kuki Gallman's ranch.
Mpala ranch comes next with 49,000 acres. It is known for being the world's forth largest African wild dog population. It was purchased by Sam Small in 1952 and later given to his brother George in 1969.
Mugie ranch follows closely with a total of 47,000 acres. It was established by the Hahn family but its managed by Claus Mortensen who was born and grew up in Kenya.
Lewa Downs, 45,000 acres owned by Craig family comes next and finally comes the Suyian Ranch which is 43,000 acres by the Powys family.
Those are among the few owners of large tracks of land. There are some other personnel like Delamere who owns 50,000 acres in Naivasha, Charles Njonjo's ranch which is said to be over 100,000 acres. The family to Kibaki,Moi and Kenyatta also have tracks of land in many places of the country that when its added up then each family may be having up to 500,000 acres.
