Kenyan Universities Elections To Take New Direction After Hon Babu Owino's Latest Move

Babu Owino Comes To Rescue Of University Students Elections, Proposes New Mode of Elections
For many years the university leadership has been playing a good role in shaping and puting universities leadership on the track. The student leaders elected by students have been playing major roles in representing students in times of need and even organizing entertainment events for the students.
Recently, the university elections was interfered with after the Garissa township member of Parliament Hon Aden Duale sponsored the amendment of a University Act that changed university elections.
The changes made by the amendment of university act saw university students lose the authority to elect their own leaders and the duty mandated for few delegates instead. Students have since been complaining of unfair elections.
In a meeting recently between the former Prime Minister Hon Raila Odinga and the university of Nairobi students, the students raised complains on the elections act that was interfered with back in 2016. The former Prime Minister Hon Raila Odinga promised to look into the matter and now actions have been seen with Babu Owino petitioning the amendment of university act no. 42 of 2012.
Students have been complaining of university interference with the elections with different universities leaders dictating whom to win the elections amongst other irregularities. Furthermore, the students also complained of tribalism in election of leaders something that was unheard of before  the amendment of universities act no 42.
What's your view on the move by Hon Babu Owino to cleanse the Universities elections?
