Multimedia University of Kenya Closes Indefinitely Leaving Students Spending Night On Streets
The Multi Media University of Kenya students were forced to spend night outside on the cold despite curfew and the unsuitable environment outside. This is after the university management resorted to closing the school indefinately.
According to a university memo released by the tertiary institution, it revealed that on Monday 13th September 2021 the university staff went on a strike something that paralyzed learning activities and other general activities for 3 days. This strike greatly affected the flow of activities at the university.
On the morning of yesterday, Wednesday 15th September 2021, the students at the institution also went on a strike something that led the university management to close down the institution so as to protect the university property and also to apply other methods of dealing with the complains raised by the irate students.
The move to indefinitely close down the institution has been highly criticized by Kenyans given that the students were given little time to vacate the premises despite the fact that many students come from far and can't travel at night as per the Covid-19 regulations. The students were forced to camp outside the streets of Nairobi as they awaited for the following day so as to leave for their home
