"Sonko Amesota," Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Begs Court To Release Bail
The Kenyan government has been trying to fight corruption cases in the country through taking taking politicians or persons associated with corruption to courts and even impeachment of those in office.
Early this year, Hon Mike Sonko was impeached from office due to corruption allegations among other charges and he is out on bail. The flamboyant and Rich politician is well known for his rich lifestyle and one who is perceived to be among the richest people in the country.
Early today, the former Governor through his lawyer visited courts to request the court to release the Ksh 15 Million that he paid as bail back in January. According to his lawyer, Mike Sonko revealed that he is out of funds and is now unable to pay for his children's school fees and also pay some bills.
The former first Nairobi senator further revealed that since his bank accounts have been freezed he can't even access his Money hence making life difficult for him. Mike Sonko further said that he acquired the Ksh 15 Million through close friends and not from the current Nairobi Governor as rumours had it.
In return for his cash, Mike Sonko presented three of his high end cars worth close to 30 million Kenyan shillings. The courts is yet to make a rulling on the matter on what Kenyans termed as Mike Sonko amesota.
