Police brutality has been a rampant issue here in Kenya and the cases are seen rising every single day. One man named Jafed Mutinda is nursing serious injuries in Mwingi level IV hospital after allegedly receiving beatings by the police.
According to Mutinda he was in a club with a bodaboda guy who happened to have some misunderstanding with him. At around 11 pm Mutinda requested the bodaboda guy to take him to his home but the guy told him to allign even before reaching his home.
He told Mutinda to pay him sh.100 but Mutinda pleaded with him to take sh.50 then he will pay the remaining arrears the next day. The bodaboda guy disagreed and started beating him up and later on called the assistant chief to arrest him. The police came and started harassing him asking him to produce the knife that he was using to threaten people at the club.
Mutinda was shocked since that was not the offence that he had committed. He then told the police that he had no knife but the police and the OCS continued beating him. He was arrested but before reaching the police station he was ordered to remove all his clothes and they continued beating him severely. He is now nursing great injuries all over his body especially his back and his private parts. Mutinda is now crying for IPOA to grant him justice for the brutality he encountered in Ngungani police post in Mumoni Kitui county.
