Moses Wetangula Pokes Holes On University Security, Questions Killing of MMUST Student
The Bungoma county senator Moses Wetangula has today poked holes on the security that the univeristy students and staff have been given. The outspoken member of parliament has called on the government to ensure that it provides security to the universirty students. In a statement he read today on the flow of the house, he raised an alarm on increased number of deaths in universities.
The statement of Hon Moses Wetangula comes a few weeks after the Masinde Muliro University of Science and technology fourth year student was killed while trying to defend his colleague. Hon Moses Wetangula questioned the security personal to reveal the action in which it has taken to investigate on the MMUST case. He further asked if the security personal had arrested anyone linked to the murder. The Ford Kenya leader asked the security committee to inform the senate of any progress taken after the gruesome act.
Furthermore, he called on the committee to spell out measures if any by the university administration and relevant government authority to ensure that security is paramount around universities and other learning institutions, more so, higher learning institutions.
In the recent past a series of killings have been witnessed in the country all linked in one way or the other whereby the affected persons have been university students. The move by the senator has been applauded as many Kenyans have raised lots of questions concerning security of tertiary level students.
