Kenyans Express Anger After A Series Of School Strikes Was Witnessed In The Country
Schooling process is one that takes many years of an individuals early years, that is, one gets to spend more than 18 years in school before finally graduating. This is key because the early years of a child is what determines their future life how it will be. It is important therefore for parents and teachers to guide their kids as it is expected.
Recently, the country has been engulfed with a number of strikes from high school students where some have burned down dormitories whereas some have destroyed properties worth millions of shillings through stoning of school property. This trend has really angered Kenyan parents who are very worried of the future of their kids if this is the kind of behavior that their children have.
Yesterday, A National school from western part of Kenya known as Chavakali High School took the internet by storm after reportedly destroying property worth millions of shillings. The irate students stoned all labaratory, classes and even dormitories windows in a quest to highlight their pleas of being denied entertainment and the fact that they were taking Githeri, which to many Kenyans it is the most petty reasons.
The move by the students to destroy property of the school saw to it that the head of the school send all the boys home as they try to establish the persons behind the riot and at the same time see on how they can best handle the matter . This was not only witnessed in Chavakali Boys but some other schools in the country this week have also performed a similar mediocrity and have since been closed to a later date, something that wont change the dates in which the national examinations will be sat.
Its high time parents and teachers start teaching and emphasizing on proper conflict solving measures that is apart from the violent ones, students should learn to apply good communication skills and also the schools should create a room for students to freely air their grievances to the right body without using alot of force. Students should emulate from Lugulu Girls National School and Moi Gilrs Eldoret on how they had a peaceful demonstration that saw their grievances heard.
